Flower of the Day

Today's flower of the day is the beautiful water lily!  I love all lilies, but the one that trumps all of them for me is the stargazer lily(you'll get that drawing later).   If your birthday is October 17th, then this is your birthday flower.  Here is the drawing in phases!

DIY-Floral Crown

I feel really sassy with this DIY. I kind of want to change it to DIYDS(Do It Yo' Damn Self).  This is probably the easiest DIY moment I've had.  And it's the one I love the most.  You can do so many different varieties!  I'm almost appalled that Free People has similar floral crowns between $28-$78.  Pardon my french but, fuck that!

I love free people, but damn that is way too much.  So I'm here to show you guys how you can make your own for less than $5. But if you want clasp claw closure in the back I'm sure the total would still be less than $10, just go to your local craft store and buy it.  I'm just doing the easier(even though the clasp claw closure would be easy too) version for now.

So here we go!  DIYDS Tutorial-Floral crown

(Cording, hot glue gun, dollar store flowers)

Music Monday!

Happy monday everyone!  Here's my favorite band to listen to right now.

Alabama Shakes.  Know them, love them, support them!

PS. If her souful/emotional/powerful/everything-ful(yeah) voice does not give you chills, something is not right with you.

Music Monday-Workout edition

Right now it's 11:27pm, it's still technically Monday.  So happy music monday everyone!  I'm such a procrastinator, you all will notice that shortly.

Lately I've been going to the gym at least 3 times a day trying to live a healthier lifestyle, you would be so proud!  When you look around at the gym you see at least 95% of the people there listening to music.  Music always helps you get through a workout, it motivates you so much more.  I don't know how people can go through pushing themselves through a workout without music!

So I just thought I'd share some of my workout playlist with you all.  Here are 15 songs out of the 56 I have that I will share with you all.

What are some songs you like to listen to when working out?

Watercolor, you beautiful bitch.

There is something so beautiful and calming about watercolor paintings that just move me.  It always looks so effortless.  The way the colors blend so beautifully..ugh I'm so jealous!  What I don't like about trying to do a watercolor painting is the loss of control that I have.  It's a good & bad thing I guess.  When I'm drawing I can easily fix a mistake, but with paint in general, you can't really go back to fix something so it looks just right.  And then you need to make sure you have the right colors blending in..agh!

Side note!  I feel as though I should mention on here that a lot of my drawings on here will be in black and white.  Even though I've been drawing since like..birth, I still cannot master color.  I will take a color theory or drawing class soon, so I can't wait to show some progress on that aspect with you guys.  I've never had any formal teaching.  I draw what I see or what I can come up with in my head.  I'm not good at shading, angles..all that technical good stuff.  Which can kind of be a good thing too, it's more organic.

I just started playing around with watercolor and here are 2 "paintings" that I have done.  Constructive criticism   is always appreciated ;)

I'm obviously a super beginner when it comes to painting anything.  I'd just thought I would share my process of becoming comfortable with paintings with you guys =]

Music

Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely l-o-v-e music.  Whenever people ask me what kind of music I'm into, I'm at a lost for words.  I don't even know where to start.  Adele(I'm a superfan), The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, Fun., Cold War Kids, The Civil Wars, Kimbra, Oh land, Sia, Jay-Z, The Kooks, The White Stripes, Bad Brains, Chiddy Bang, Dead Kennedys.  I could go on and on.  If something pleases my ears, I'm hooked!

(my quick drawing, click to enlarge)

For my first music posting I want you all to listen to Dionne Bromfield.  She was Amy Winehouse's goddaughter & musical mentor.  Once you listen to Dionne's voice, you will be blown away.  Her voice sounds exactly like her godmother.  And I can't believe she is only 16!  She makes me think of Joss Stone, she made it big when she was around 16 too.  I love powerful/unique voices, and Dionne Bromfield has just that.  I hope everyone will be exposed to her music, she has something very special. I feel like Amy lives on through her.

Intro

This is my first official posting(how exciting!!).  I'm not new to the blogging world, this will be my 3rd & LAST & most kept up with blog yet..I mean it :)  To those that have followed me through my other 2 blogs, thanks so much!  Here's some info regarding my new& permanent home.

I got the name Just Keep Drawing while I was in the shower.  Here's my thought process.. Shower->Water->Finding Nemo->Dori->Just keep swimming->JUST KEEP DRAWING!

There's no better feeling than sitting in my chair & just drawing away(besides shopping).

Just Keep Drawing="art"/fashion/music It's kind of like my mood board.
